When the Reyes family first contacted ECO World Construction Corp, their Morrisania home had seen better days. Decades-old plaster walls, outdated electrical wiring, a leaking flat roof, and a kitchen that hadn't been touched since the 1980s. Within 14 weeks, we delivered a complete transformation.
The Challenge — The 2,200 sq ft, three-story rowhouse had been in the family for 40 years. The goal was to modernize everything while preserving the historic character of the original brick exterior and hardwood floors throughout.
Roofing — We started on the roof — a fully adhered TPO membrane over tapered insulation to solve the chronic flat-roof ponding that had been leaking into the top-floor bathroom for years. New flashing, drains, and a 25-year membrane warranty.
Electrical & Plumbing Rough-In — The original knob-and-tube wiring was fully removed and replaced with a modern 200-amp service. All supply lines were repiped in PEX. New waste lines were run to accommodate the kitchen and bathroom reconfigurations.
Kitchen — The new kitchen features custom white shaker cabinets, quartz countertops, a subway tile backsplash, and professional-grade appliances — a complete transformation from the original linoleum-and-laminate setup.
Living Areas — Original hardwood floors were sanded and refinished. Plaster walls were replaced with Level 5 smooth drywall. Custom millwork throughout including built-in bookshelves and a new staircase railing.
The Reyes family moved back in 14 weeks after project start — on schedule and within 3% of the original budget. This project won ECO World the 2025 Bronx Renovation Excellence Award.
